„The Cruel Prince“, von Holly Black, war mein erstes Buch der Autorin und der erste Band der Folk of the Air – Reihe.
Mit einem märchenhaften, düsteren Schreibstil entführte man mich in die Elfenwelt und bannte mich solange, bis ich das Buch beendet habe. Ja, so krass hat es mich eingefangen. Jude war ein Hauptcharakter, mit dem man nicht immer sympathisierte und der stellenweise sehr grausam, skrupellos und machtgierig handelte. Sie war eine Protagonistin, die zugleich Heldin und Antagonistin der Geschichte war und das entfachte eine so toxische, verführerische Mischung, die mich süchtig machte. So einfach. Die Welt mit ihren krummen Wahrheiten, schönschrecklichen Wesen und eitlen Gedanken, unterlegte Jude noch einmal als Protagonistin und war im Grunde auch die Basis dazu, wie die Story sich aufbaute und entwickelte. Die Geschichte selber war gespickt mit unerwarteten Wendungen, Entwicklungen und vielen, vielen Intrigen, die es zu lösen galt. Und nicht nur das, sie kamen echt spannend daher und ließen mich den Atem anhalten.
Das Einzige womit ich Probleme hatte war der holprige Anfang, der mich nur schwer in die Geschehnisse gleiten ließ.
Fazit, ein Buch, das nicht so ist wie es schein.
Das Buch hat von mir 4,5/5🌹 bekommen.

„The Cruel Prince“, from Holly Black, is my first book from the author and the first book from the Folk of the Air – series.
With a dark and lush writingstyle, I was kidnapped into the faerieworld and could only leave, when I finished the book. So yeah, that good was it. Jude, as the maincharacter, wasn´t always sympathetic and sometimes even cold, threating and uncrupulous and that made her the hero and the villan of the story. That line between light und dark, was so toxic and intoxing, that got me addicted. So easy. The World itself had many teeths, a lurking sharpness and was filled with beautiful, maddening creatures, which emphasized Jude a little more. The story was surprising, full of intriuge and changing points, which had to be countered.
The only thing, with which I had any problems, was the rooky start. And that did not make it easy to fall into the story. But when it happend, I powered through it.
So, to sum everything up, a book like any other.
I gave it 4,5/5🌹
