Geplapper vorne weg: Auf welche Fortsetzung freut ihr euch momentan am meisten? Das wäre bei mir wohl Song of the Dawn, der zweite Teil der Tower Knights – Reihe und oh man, bin ich schon super neugierig auf den Teil. Und da darf die Rezi vom ersten Mal nicht fehlen. Viel Spaß dabei!

Rezension (deutsch)

„Music of the Night“, von Angela J. Ford, ist mein erstes Buch der Autorin.
Wodurch das ganze Buch besticht und förmlich lebt: ist die Atmosphäre. Es ist eine gelungene Mischung aus Mystery, Gruselfaktor, Geheimnissen und düsteren, melancholischen Tönen. Und das passte zur Geschichte, die eine Art nach (oder neu?) Erzählung vom Phantom der Oper ist und schlüssig für mich umgesetzt wurde. Mir hat sie gefallen. Der Schreibstil war knackig, hielt sich nicht mit vielen belanglosen Details auf, was der Spannung sehr gut gelegen kam und die Atmosphäre nochmal unterstrich.
Die Charaktere waren präsent, nur manchmal fehlte es mir an konkreten Erklärungen, oder Gründen, für ihre Entwicklungen. Wären sie da gewesen, hätte man viel mehr von ihnen verstehen und nachvollziehen können. Leider war dem nicht so und dadurch blieben sie ein wenig ungreifbar. Auch der Weltenaufbau, ich denke er sollte ein wenig blass sein, um das Drama in dem Buch einzuheizen, war dennoch zu schwach und hätte gerne in den Dingen, die dem Leser klar waren, ausgebaut werden können.

Fazit, ein Buch das vor allem durch seine Atmosphäre stark ist und auf jeden Fall gruseln kann. Empfehlung!

„Music of the Night“, from Angela J. Ford, is my first book from the author.
What the book did really great on: was it´ s atmosphere. It was a well done mix of mystery, spooky, secrets and melancholy. And it worked so well with the story, which was basically a retelling of the phantom of the opera. It was simply great. The writingstyle was short, did not dwell on to much deatils and foscused more on the charging, the happenings.
The characters were good, but sometimes I wished they had more explained reasons for their growth, so I could connect with them even better. The worldbuilding, which I think was done intentionally vage, to heat up the drama, still could have been a little bit more explained in area, which was known to the reader.

So, too sum everything up, the book does really great job with the atmosphere. I really recomend it.
